Our planet earth is the mainstay of our human life. Without it, our life is not possible. A healthy environment is required for a healthy life. Just like we need the earth for our life, today the earth also needs us because pollution has increased on our planet in the last few decades. It is causing great harm to our earth.
It is estimated that more than 13 million deaths around the world each year are due to avoidable environmental causes. We rely on healthy ecosystems to support healthy communities and societies.
Well-functioning ecosystems provide goods and services essential for human health. They provide nutrition and security, clean air and fresh water, medicines, and cultural and spiritual values.
They can also help to limit diseases and stabilize the climate as it is known that a climate crisis is also a health crisis. Increasingly unsustainable practices are placing pressure on natural resources to meet the demands of our economies and the needs of the rapidly growing global population.
This all results in soil, water, and air pollution increased emissions of greenhouse gases, deforestation, expanded urban areas, and inadequately planned development of water and land resources to meet food and energy needs. These changes are having both direct and indirect impacts on our climate, ecosystems, and biological diversity.
By the way, it is generally said that to live, we need breath, cloth, and a house, which we get from our planet only. So don’t we have any obligation to do something for this earth and protect ourselves and our coming generation along with the planet?
Every year on 7 April, we celebrate “World health day”. The theme for world health day 2022 is “Our Planet, Our Health”. This year’s theme aims to direct global attention toward the well-being of our planet and the humans living on it. We have witnessed a sharp bent of mind toward a healthy life in recent years. The pandemic especially has shifted our attention towards our health with a special focus on diet to keep various diseases at bay.
A well-being economy has human well-being, equity, and ecological sustainability as its goals. Developing such an economy and having better health for the planet and humans require legislative action, corporate reform, and every person to make healthy choices.
If we want to keep ourselves healthy then first of all we have to keep our planet healthy. First of all, we have to promote healthy air by stopping all the pollution created by us. because it is up to us to either save or lose our planet.
