Swami Vivekananda was born in Calcutta (Kolkata) on January 12th, 1863. His mother’s name was Bhuvaneshwari Devi and his father’s name was Vishwanath Dutta was a famous lawyer. His childhood name was Narendra Datta.
During his childhood days, he was an intellectual kid with good grasping power. After his schoolings. he studied B. A and Law. Apart from being good in their studies, he was also trained in Indian classical music and was a good sportsperson too.
The youth of any country is its future. the progress of the country is in their hands. In today’s scenario where there is corruption, evil, crime dominated all over the country which are being consumed inside the country as mites.

Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary also called Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, is celebrated every year on 12 January. This day is also known as National Youth Day.
National Youth Day is celebrated across India in schools and colleges and programs like processions, speeches, recitation, music, youth conventions, seminars, sports competitions are held on this day.
He was the disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. And he was interested in spirituality and started meditating from a young age. his guru taught him that God lives in every human being. “by serving mankind, one can serve god“.
He established the “Ramakrishna mission” which renders the social service to the poor and in need and this mission runs many schools and hospitals. It helps poor people in many ways. He was later named “Swami Vivekananda” When he became a monk.
He participated in the world religions parliament held in Chicago, US. Hence a number of Americans and Indians became his disciples who joined in Ramakrishna’s mission.
After his 1893 speech at the world’s parliament of religions in Chicago, he was called the “Messenger of Indian wisdom to the western world.”
Swami Vivekananda’s thought-provoking lectures, quotes, and writings have been a subject of study and a great source of motivation for the youth. Swami loved India very much. His message to the youth of India was “Be strong and fearless”.
He was also very brave. Because of his bravery and intelligence, he became the leader of his group of friends. He believed education is the manifestation of perfection already in men.
Swami Vivekananda’s powerful voice brought a ray of hope to India when India was under control and the people of India were tolerating the oppression of the British.
In 1984, the government of India said that “the philosophy of swami Ji and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian youth”.
Swami Ji had great expectations from the youth he has said to eliminate the ego of the youth:- “If you stand as a leader yourself, no one will go ahead to help you.
“If you want to succeed then first destroy the “ego”. He gave a message to the youth to be patient, pure in behaviors, not fighting among themselves, not being biased, and always struggling Leadership, discipline, and citizenship cannot develop automatically not these qualities be acquired once a character is formed.
These qualities have been included by proper training during the impressionable year of youth. Vivekananda advised the youth to move forward. His words were:- “Arise, Awake and Stop not till the goal is reached“.
