One of the great men was a great sacrificer “Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji”.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji laid down his life to protect the rights and faith of others without thinking of himself.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was born on 1 April 1621 in Amritsar and was named Tyagmal in childhood.

As a child, he was trained in martial arts, swordsmanship, and horse riding.

But despite being an able fighter alongside his father in different battles, he seemed to choose a path of renunciation and meditation.

He was married to Mata Gujri in 1633. In 1656, they moved to the village named Bakola where Tegh Bahadur would spend a lot of time in contemplation and prayers.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth guru of the Sikhs, following the path laid down by the first guru of the Sikhs “Guru Nanak Dev”.

he composed 115 poetic hymns that are in the text of Guru Granth Sahib.

He did many works for human welfare and philanthropy like digging wells, building dharmshala, etc.

Along with this, he also made an important contribution to the spiritual, social, economic fields.

Aurangzeb, the Mughal emperor of India, wanted to unite India into a single Islamic nation.

He set out to virtually eradicate Hinduism from India in order to achieve this goal.

Finally, the guru preferred the third option. On November 11th, 1675, his head was chopped off in front of a crowd at Chandni Chowk in Delhi for protecting fundamental human rights.

Unparalleled in the history of humankind the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji was an act of sacrifice for another religious community.

The Guruji’s martyrdom served to awaken the collective conscience of the Sikh community which was about to undergo a final transformation in the years to follow.
