One of the great men who give great sacrifice for the welfare of mankind was the great sacrificer “Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji”.
He was the ninth guru of the Sikhs And he was the youngest son of the Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji.
He was known as the Dhruv Star of the Sikh. On 1 April 1621, a child was born in Amritsar which was named Tyagmal.
He was very intelligent. he was a brave and fearless nature since childhood.
At the age of just 14, he showed valor in the war against the attack of the Mughals.
Impressed by his bravery, his father changed his name from Tyagmal to Tegh bahadur Ji.
In his earlier days, he learned several languages such as Guru Mukhi, Hindi, Sanskrit, and other religious philosophies.
when he was known as Tegh bahadur, he spent his time in studies and meditation.
After some time passed and soon he got married to Mata Gujri Ji at Kartar Pur in 1632.
Soon the responsibility of instructing and guiding the Sikh community was on Guru Tegh Bahadur.

He sacrificed his life for the welfare of the people. the important event of the guru Tegh bahadur’s life is defended one’s religion.
November 1675, on this day when he was beheaded by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
Often referred to as Hind ki Chadar, which means shield of India, guru Tegh bahadur is considered as the most selfless martyr.
The Mughal ruler wanted to convert all Indians into Muslims, he wanted everyone to either take up Islam or else be prepared for execution.
After this announcement by Aurangzeb, a group of 500 Kashmiri pandits led by pandit Kripa Ram went to seek help from Guru Tegh Bahadur at Anandpur sahib.
On hearing these atrocities of Aurangzeb, Gobind Rai, the son of Guru Tegh bahadur declared that it is only his father who can solve this problem.
The Ninth Guru of Sikhs readily agreed to help the pandits. He asked them to inform the Mughal ruler that if he is able to convert Guru Tegh Bahadur, then all people would follow the suit.
After Aurangzeb came to known about this, Guru Tegh Bahadur was arrested and presented before the Mughal ruler.
Guru Tegh bahadur clearly refused to take up Islam. As a result, he along with his followers were physically tortured for five days.
As a result, Aurangzeb beheaded him at the Chandni chowk in broad daylight.
Guru Tegh Bahadur, who gave his life to protect the religion of others, will always be in our hearts.
