Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy is a Ukrainian politician, former actor, and comedian who has served as President of Ukraine since 2019. He was born on January 25, 1978.
Zelenskyy grew up in the Russian-speaking district of Kryvyi Rih in southeast Ukraine. Prior to his acting career, Zelenskyy graduated from Kyiv National Economic University with a law degree.
He subsequently turned to comedy and founded Kvartal 95, a production company that creates films, cartoons, and television shows, including Servant of the People, in which Zelenskyy portrayed Ukraine’s president.
The show aired from 2015 to 2019 and was a huge hit. Employees of Kvartal 95 formed a political party with the same name as the television show in March 2018.
On the evening of December 31, 2018, Zelenskyy announced his candidacy for the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election on 1+1 TV Channel, alongside President Petro Poroshenko’s New Year’s Eve address.
He had already established himself as one of the election’s frontrunners, despite being a political outsider. In the second round, he defeated Poroshenko and received 73.2 percent of the vote.

Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy was born on January 25, 1978, in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, to Jewish parents.
