The memoir "I'm Glad My Mom Died" by Jennette McCurdy

As Sam Puckett, Carly's rebellious best friend, in Nickelodeon's iCarly, Jennette McCurdy shot to fame in 2007.

She later went on to star in the 2013 spin-off Sam & Cat with future Grammy winner Ariana Grande.

However, McCurdy left the world of television behind after the programme was cancelled in 2014 and Netflix's Between, in which she portrayed Wiley Day, ended in 2016.

Here are five lessons McCurdy's painful and hilarious memoir, I'm Glad My Mom Died, has taught us.

McCurdy now acts in her own one-woman play, I'm Glad My Mom Died, and she also makes short films.

She discusses her experiences as a child performer, including feeling exploited, eating disorders, stardom,

and her controlling mother, in the recently published memoir of the same name.
