Susan Sarandon learned about country music from Trace Adkins.
In a recent Television Critics Association panel, Sarandon stated, "I adore the storytelling of country-western music."
"I never had a detailed understanding of it. Willie Nelson and I shared a joint to smoke. I didn't really go much deeper than that."
Albie and Dottie Roman are portrayed by Adkins and Sarandon as two country music stars
whose kids are also involved in the industry. Adkins, 60, is a recording artist himself, and Shania Twain, Tanya Tucker
Martina McBride, and Little Big Town also make guest appearances on the show.
The entire perk of being an actor, according to Sarandon, 75, "is that you get to walk into
these little bubbles that you don't know anything about and find out so much more in depth."
