Memphis Teacher Eliza Fletcher murder suspect Cleotha Abston's History

At age 16, Abston-Henderson kidnapped Memphis lawyer Kemper Durand (now deceased)

and forced him into the trunk of his own car before bringing him to several ATMs and demanding that he withdraw money, according to court records.

Durand was later found dead. In that case, Abston-Henderson entered a plea of guilty and completed nearly 20 years of a 24-year sentence.

Documents show that Abston-Henderson told investigators separately that

although he had "a strong relationship with his family, his childhood was difficult."

According to state prison records, he was released two years ago after serving nearly 20 years of a 24-year sentence.

According to a new affidavit, he was hiding out close to the University of Memphis campus early on Friday, September 2,

for about 24 minutes before Fletcher arrived there for her usual morning jog.
