Democratic anxiety grows over Kyrsten Sinema’s silence

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema's (D-Ariz.) five-day silence on a comprehensive plan to reform the...

tax code, address climate change, and lower the federal deficit has Senate Democrats extremely concerned.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema was left out of the negotiations between Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) and centrist Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.),

which resulted in a major deal being unexpectedly announced last week.

Democratic lawmakers are privately concerned about Sinema's displeasure.

Republican senators, some of whom have a close relationship with Sinema, were outraged by the news of the deal,

which broke hours after the Senate passed a $280 billion microchips and science bill.

Her Democratic colleagues were left in suspense last week after Sinema's office stated that she would carefully analyse the legislation before taking a decision.
