For comparing Latinos to "breakfast tacos," Jill Biden faced criticism

Jill Biden, the first lady of the United States, offended people by comparing Hispanics to "tacos" in a speech.

At a Texas event, Mrs. Biden was speaking to Latinos when she made an attempt at a compliment that alluded to the traditional Mexican food.

"We are not tacos," the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) replied.

Her remark coincides with President Joe Biden's declining favorability among Hispanic voters.

"The diversity of this community, as diverse as the bodegas of the Bronx, as lovely as the blooms of Miami,...

And as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength," said Mrs. Biden on Monday while addressing a conference in San Antonio on the Hispanic "Quest for Equity."

The bodegas, also known as convenience stores, are mispronounced as "bogedas" by Mrs. Biden.
