Jackson Holliday is selected by the Orioles with the first overall choice in the 2022 MLB Draft.

The Baltimore Orioles' future is starting to look a little bit more bright after several recent futile seasons.

They received the first overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft as a result of losing 110 games the previous season,...

And they utilised that pick on Sunday to select Oklahoma prep shortstop Jackson Holliday from Stillwater.

As the seven-time MLB All-Star outfielder Matt Holliday's son, he broke J.T. Realmuto's national high school record for hits in a season with 89 in just 41 games...

While batting.685/.749/1.392 with 17 home runs, earning him the title of Oklahoma prep player of the year in 2022.

The Orioles are familiar to selecting high in the first round after suffering at least 100 losses in each of the previous three full MLB seasons.

However, the O's appear to have turned a turnaround after the No. 1 overall pick in 2019 Adley Rutschman made his MLB debut this year.
