First statement from Prince Harry honours the Queen Elizabeth

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace on Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom "died peacefully." She was 96.

Just a few hours prior, the palace had revealed that the queen's doctors were "concerned" for her health

and had kept her under "medical observation" at Balmoral Castle,

the Scottish estate of the British royal family where she had been spending the summer.

According to each spokesperson, members of the royal family, including the queen's four children

gathered to her side at Balmoral. That afternoon, she passed away.

Elizabeth had the longest reign in British history. In June, she celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, celebrating 70 years as queen since her accession to the throne in 1952.
