Drew Gilbert is selected by the Houston Astros in the first round.

Drew Gilbert was chosen by Houston as the 28th player off the board.

The University of Tennessee outfielder, who is five feet nine, batters and throws to the left.

Gilbert, a native of St. Paul, Minnesota, was originally selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 35th round of the 2019 edition, but he decided to enrol in college.

It ended up being a wise decision. He not only attended college, but his 28th selection is allotted a $2,620,400 signing bonus (give or take). On September 27, Gilbert will turn 22 years old.

Naturally, Houston endured a lack of action on the first day of the selection the previous year.

Simply put, they were limited in their options until late in the third round for various...reasons.

I'll stop there since the less stated about the 2021 draft, the better.
