The hurdles dream of Devon Allen comes to a horrible end

Devon Allen, an Eagles wide receiver, was disqualified from the 110-meter hurdles final on Saturday night at Hayward Field after being flagged for a false start.

This put an end to his homecoming trip to the World Championships in Eugene.

According to the World Athletics rule, a runner is disqualified from the race if his reaction time to the starting gun is less than one thousandth of a second.

Allen was disqualified by the tiniest, most undetectable margin imaginable since his start was recorded at 0.099. Despite not moving before to the gun.

That's the law; there is no room for appeal. After spending ten minutes around the starting line and pleading with meet officials to let him run,

Allen was eventually booed by his home fans and forced to leave the track.

Grant Holloway and Trey Cunningham, both Americans, came in first and second, respectively, with times of 13.03 and 13.08.
