Astros add depth to Vázquez, Mancini deals

With the acquisitions of catcher Christian Vázquez from the Red Sox and first baseman/designated hitter Trey Mancini from the Orioles on separate deals on Monday,

the Astros met two of their most urgent requirements at the Trade Deadline.

Mancini's deal included the Rays and Orioles as the three teams.

Vázquez was acquired from the Red Sox in exchange for outfielder Wilyer Abreu (No. 29 prospect) and infielder Enmanuel Valdez (the Astros’ No. 28 prospect).

Before being escorted away by a representative of the Red Sox media relations department, Vázquez said to reporters, "It's a business."

A source claims that, in the days prior to Tuesday's 5 p.m. CT Trade Deadline, the Astros,

who are still looking for relief pitchers, have their sights set on Detroit's left-handed Gregory Soto.

Click stated that they valued "high-contact" hitters like Mancini and Vázquez.
